ALTRO altro 7"

Punk Planet magazine

(Ö) an awesome, no distortion but very aggressive 7" similar to early At The Drive-In. Great book-like packaging and art work.

The better recording of this second single lets us understand more about the band's music, which seems close to the more romantic and depressed moments of Sonic Youth. Altro keeps charming me despite of crappy sound quality and ideas that are not so new. But in their work, they still manage to convey a part of themselves in a special way.

Whoa there. Italy knows how to party. Not that I've ever been there but that's the sense I get from this record. Now don't be thinking this IS an actual dance record, but they got the beats yo. Once again I have no clue as to what's being said so I'm probably amped on a song about missing the bus. It sounds pretty energetic, frantic at times with good off time sections and change ups, laid over scorching monotone vocals. I kept thinking that the guitar player sounded like The Edge from U2's War album. That's alright though. If anyone knows these guys, find out when they are comin' to the states and tell me. I love the bus. Nice packaging design as well.

Sort of lofi type punk though not in the garage style. More like "Sister" era Sonic Youth's more pop stuff. Really cool packaging.

Mellowed out emo punk from Italy with a lot of drive and melody. The hooks are somber and dark but very addictive and danceable. Perfect record for your next Goth party.

(...) this 7" features five tracks and is packaged in a beautiful book-like cover with lyrics and an endless thanks list. The music is raw and biting in its nature, but poorly recorded. It's rock that draws from the most shady and anguish-laden post-punk. While well-known in their style and incomplete in their structures, the songs are quite good, but the technical quality is really bad: ok with lo-fi, but this is frightening..."
